DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION
DiversifyChem : A website that features directories of diverse chemists (grad students/postdocs, academic, industrial). The goal is to help symposium organizers, award committees, search committees, etc. identify chemists who might diversify their pool.
Compilation of resources about Fighting Racism from Women Accelerators
Implicit Association Test (IAT) by Project Implicit : Use this free test to assess your implicit biases. The IAT measures the strength of associations between concepts and evaluations (e.g., good, bad) or stereotypes (e.g., athletic, clumsy). The main idea is that making a response is easier when closely related items share the same response key.

STEM PODCASTS
AcaDames Podcast : AcaDames is a biweekly podcast by Professors Whitney Robinson and Sarah Birken that explores whether being a woman in academia is a dream, game, or scam through interviews with a diverse range of women. Discussions cover career trajectories, finances, childbearing decisions, spirituality, the ever-present patriarchy, and everything in between.
Beyond the Bench : STEMulating Career Conversations : Whether you are a student preparing to enter the workforce or a seasoned executive, this podcast is a resource for those with a STEM background seeking to understand career options. Though there are numerous opportunities outside of the laboratory, people either do not know what they are or how to prepare for the transition.
Chemical Engineering Guy(s) : This podcast is about engineers in the industry around the world. Each podcast features a guest speaker who is an engineer working in the industry, and they offer insight on their engineering lives and what they do in the workforce.
Molecular Podcasting : This podcast by Professor Darren Lipomi lifts the veil on all topics related to STEM in academia: research, teaching, writing, speaking, and other professional topics. Darren Lipomi is a professor of nanoengineering, chemical engineering, and materials science at UC San Diego.
PhDivas : Podcast about academia, culture, and social justice across the STEM/humanities divide. Co-hosted by Professors Liz Wayne and Christine "Xine" Yao, two women of color Ivy League PhDs navigating higher education.
The Soft Matter Show : Podcast containing a collection of conversations on state-of-the-art research on polymer and soft matter science. The show is hosted by Amal Narayanan, mostly joined by academicians and industrialists.
ChemDraw (free for UCI students) : A drawing tool that allows users to draw chemical structures and reactions as well as biological objects and pathways.
USEFUL TOOLS AND OTHER RESOURCES
AAT Bioquest Spectrum Viewer : A powerful tool for analysis and comparison of the spectra of common compounds used in absorbance and fluorescence formats.
BioRender : An online tool for creating professional science figures using pre-made icons and templates.
Blender : A free and useful 3-D modeling software. Supports modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing, motion tracking, as well as 2-D animations.
ChemDoodle : A paid drawing tool for chemical structures that offers premier graphics.
ChemSketch : A free is a drawing package that allows you to draw chemical structures including organics, organometallics, polymers, and Markush structures.
e-EROS : This resource gives detailed information on more than 5,250 reagents and catalysts, and every year up to 200 new or updated articles are added in order to keep the Database up-to-date.
Grantome : A database of funding information available from agencies such as the U.S. National Institutes of Health and National Science Foundation.
Not Voodoo : A website that compiles information relevant to synthetic organic chemistry.
PubMed : An online database comprised of more than 32 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books.
Reaxys (free for UCI students) : Chemistry search database that consists of chemicals, substances, and known reactions.
RCSB Protein Data Bank : This resource is powered by the Protein Data Bank archive-information about the 3D shapes of proteins, nucleic acids, and complex assemblies.
